Good Booze – Jammy Berry Flavors
At a great price, this widely available Zin from Bogle may hit your spot for your “red by the glass”. It doesn’t have a lot of depth or structure that would make it the choice for thick, grilled steaks or Tri-Tips, but for a big tumbler on the deck or patio, especially if you pour it through an aerator, it’s a solid deal. Lucious Fruit Jam from juicy berries your thing? Here it is for under $8 per bottle.

Pour it and taste – Very slight sulfur nose with nice berry aroma. Ripe berry flavors. Lingering berry finish with modest tannins.
– Plus 5 Minutes in the glass – Big berry aroma. Tight Berry Flavor. Short finish.
Aerator – The Big Winner. Raspberry aroma. Ripe berry flavors. Smooth. Nice easy finish. The barest hint of round soft tannins. Very tasty.
Decanter + 30 minutes – Rich berry nose. Jammy berry flavors. Modest soft finish. Noticeable round, warm soft tannins. Getting a bit simple and narrow berry flavored now. Very modest depth and structure.
Overall – Good reason to have an aerator. Nice jammy fruit and very easy to drink. Shows its best when recently opened and poured or newly opened and using the aerator. Overall a tasty pour if a bit limited in structure. It’s probably best as an easy drinking red wine “cocktail” and not a food wine that would stand up to beef. For many, what a “glass of red” with snacks and the game should be. Good choice for a quick summer Sangria with the addition of various fruit juices and ice, the second day.
